If you are a new client calling in for your pet's first appointment, you will be asked to place a non-refundable deposit for the examination in order to schedule the appointment; this is for first visits and will be deducted from your visit's cost. We will also ask you where your pet has been previously seen so that way we may call them for medical records; This will help the clinic keep track of your pet’s important information, and to better inform the veterinarian.
When you arrive at our veterinary hospital located in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, you will be greeted by a receptionist who will ask for your pet’s information and any necessary paperwork. This may include your pet’s medical history, vaccination records, and any previous medical records; we may already have this on file as we always call, however it is good to always have it on hand.
Once you have checked in, you may be asked to wait in the waiting room until a veterinary technician or assistant is ready to bring you and your pet to an exam room.
Once you are in the exam room, a veterinary technician or assistant will ask you questions about your pet’s behavior, diet, and any concerns you may have, and may take your pet to the treatment area to start any necessary diagnostics.
After the initial assessment, one of our veterinarians will come in to perform a physical exam on your pet. This may include checking your pet’s eyes, ears, mouth, and skin, as well as listening to their heart and lungs. Our veterinarian may also palpate your pet’s abdomen to check for any abnormalities. A physical examination may be performed in the treatment area. If so, the veterinarian will come in to discuss all findings with you.
If your pet is due for any vaccinations or preventative care, we may administer them during this time. We will also discuss any necessary treatments or medications for your pet’s current health concerns, as well as address any questions you may have
